Outfits For Courses
Is the outfit you choose sometimes dictated by the caliber of golf course you are playing? The fancier the course, the more effort you put into your outfit. Or do you not care? I very much care.
Last week I had the chance to play Trump Turnberry, naturally, the first thought that came into my mind was ‘what am I going to wear?’ Turnberry would be the highest ranked golf course (Top 100 Courses List) that I would have had the pleasure of playing, in fact, the 10th best in the world. A golf course of such stature and prestige requires an outfit befitting of the venue.
Knowing the temperature in Scotland in late May would require a midlayer of some description, this excited me. Knitwear pieces are some of my favourites to style and there is something about knitwear and Scotland that just works so well together. I opted for the Camo Ralph Lauren RLX Crewneck Jumper, it features a blend of french navy, dark navy and bottle green, potentially my combination of colours as well as a heavyweight fabric perfect for a morning on the links.
The trousers from Macade Golf were the Lightweight Trousers in the ‘Teal’ colourway. The ‘Teal’ looks more like forest/bottle green which would match in perfectly with the crewneck. I really like the match-up between top and bottom when the colour combination is subtle and this colourway slaps.
The finishing touch to the outfit was always going to be a pair of FootJoy Premiere Series. For me they are the perfect blend of classic, traditional styling with the modern touch which really encompasses the philosophy of Turnberry under the current ownership.
A huge thank you to Turnberry for having me on the day! The course was superb, as was the food, service and all round experience on the day.
